The Izard County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the early morning hours March 7.

According to a release from Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey, when deputies arrived at the residence on Pounders Lane, they met with a female who stated she had run from the home she shared with her husband.

When asked why she had run, the victim stated her husband had tried to choke her with a rope and threatened to kill both her and himself.

She also told deputies her husband was in the home and was armed.

Deputies made multiple efforts to establish communication with Tim Clapper, 52, and after many unsuccessful events, deputies entered the home.

Once inside, they found the body of Clapper in the bathroom. It appeared Clapper had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner for autopsy.

Foul play is not suspected; however, the incident remains under investigation.
