This was taken at 2:00 am on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021. Thanks to the encroaching winter storm, the “feels like” temperature was at zero, or just below it. The vast majority of us (me included) were unaware and asleep in warm beds, while Jim Smith worked the backhoe and Payton Wooldridge was in the trench to resolve this water leak. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this place collapses without the unwavering dedication that our city employees show to their jobs, and to the service of the people of Cave City. God bless them all.
