The Hardy Police and Fire Departments assisted the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department with an overturned vehicle that ran off of the low water bridge on Griffin Road just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, April 2.

Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose said the driver of the vehicle, an unnamed elderly female was rescued from the vehicle and bough to safety by Hardy Fire and Rescue with the assistance of a passing motorist. Due to safety concerns and swift water, attempts to recover the vehicle from the river were postponed until later in the morning.
