As very COLD temperatures come into our area, we’d like to remind you of a few safety tips!
  • Give space heaters space.
  • Keep combustible materials away from any heater.
  • Place all space heaters at least three feet from furniture, walls, curtains or anything else that could catch fire.
  • Turn off space heaters when you leave home or go to bed!
  • Check that your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors are working properly.
  • Do not overload extension cords with electric heating devices.
  • Do not use cooking appliances to heat your home.
  • Practice an escape plan with the family and identify a meeting place outside of the home.
  • If you escape from a home that is on fire never reenter the structure.
  • If you have family members please check on them and their fire safety preparations.
  • This is a high percentage time for structure fires with the majority of them due to negligence of heating devices.
  • Please be safe, and always remember to be fire preventive!
