As very COLD temperatures come into our area, we’d like to remind you of a few safety tips!
- Give space heaters space.
- Keep combustible materials away from any heater.
- Place all space heaters at least three feet from furniture, walls, curtains or anything else that could catch fire.
- Turn off space heaters when you leave home or go to bed!
- Check that your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors are working properly.
- Do not overload extension cords with electric heating devices.
- Do not use cooking appliances to heat your home.
- Practice an escape plan with the family and identify a meeting place outside of the home.
- If you escape from a home that is on fire never reenter the structure.
- If you have family members please check on them and their fire safety preparations.
- This is a high percentage time for structure fires with the majority of them due to negligence of heating devices.
- Please be safe, and always remember to be fire preventive!
