Four students in the Surgical Technology program at Ozarka College received their pins recently in an annual pinning ceremony held in the Lecture Hall of the Ozarka College Mountain View Campus.
During the ceremony, Lindsey Brietz, Surgical Technology Instructor at Ozarka College, informed the students of the tough road ahead but reassured them that their training at Ozarka College had prepared them for it.
Katie Wilson, Ozarka College Allied Health Division Chair, was incredibly proud of this year’s pin recipients, “These students have worked hard to overcome the challenges they’ve faced during the pandemic,” she said. “They have persevered and have proven that they have what it takes to overcome the obstacles they may face when they enter the workforce.”
The four students who received their pins were: Lauren Davis, Camryn Lawrence, Addison Turner, and Sabrina Wofford.
The ceremony included a welcome address from Ozarka College President, Dr. Richard Dawe, an introduction and reading by Ozarka College Allied Health Division Chair, Katie Wilson, keynote address by Surgical Technology Instructor, Lindsey Brietz, and the presentation of pins.
The purpose of the Ozarka College Surgical Technology program is to provide entry-level technical skills to students desiring to become Surgical Technologists. The program provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical training for students desiring employment as a qualified entry-level practitioner in the field of Surgical Technology and related areas.
