An Izard County Man is facing multiple charges after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through residential areas and private lands.

According to an affidavit of warrant of arrest for 23-year-old Adrian Black, on Aug. 19, Deputy Caeden Wolfe attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Tahoe for speeding.

Wolfe initiated his emergency lights and siren at which time Black began fleeing at speeds in excess of 80 to 100 miles per hour.

Wolfe pursued Black’s vehicle through narrow residential streets inside the city limits of Melbourne before Black left the roadway and began traveling on a private land, nearly striking livestock in the field in the process.

Wolfe noted that the speeds of the pursuit were maintained between 60 and 100 miles per hour.

Additional deputies joined in the pursuit and located Black’s vehicle at the end of a dead-end road. There were three occupants inside the vehicle including a juvenile female.

During a search of the vehicle, multiple opened and half full containers of beer were found along with two loaded firearms.

Black was placed under arrest and transported to the Izard County Detention Center where he agreed to take a breath test and showed a breath alcohol level of 0.141.

As a result, Black has been charged with fleeing by means of vehicle, a class C felony; endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree, driving or boating while intoxicated and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Bond for Black was set at $15,000 and he has since bonded out.
