Recently, some restaurants in the Tri-County area have been forced to reduce hours or close early due to lack of staff.

In the last week, at least three area restaurants have closed early or been unable to operate and serve patrons.

Many business owners have made the decision to scale back on operations in order to give staff a break from 7-day work weeks, double shifts and more.

On April 21, Roxi’s in Williford posted on their social media page they would be closing even before their dinner shift due to the issue.

Other area restaurants and most recently, on April 22, Calabama in Franklin posted on their social media page they would be closing on Sundays after April 25.

“As of May 2, we will be closed on Sundays. Due to the lack of staff and the fact our amazing staff we have are working seven days a week, we are unable to remain open on the seventh day,” the post stated. “If/when the flow of ‘free money’ stops, and we can hire more help, we will be happy to reopen on Sundays. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, your exhausted Calabama family.”

Local restaurants are not the only businesses feeling the stress and frustration of a lack of workers. Many businesses from pest control to fast food have also expressed frustration.
