An Izard County man is facing charges after a traffic stop in Mt. Pleasant.

According to an affidavit filed Dec. 15, an officer spotted a gray Dodge pickup with expired tags and no insurance on file.

When the vehcile left the gas station, it turned onto several side roads as the officer followed. A traffic stop was conducted as the driver of the truck pulled into a driveway and parked. When the vehicles came to a stop, 49-year-old Billy Wayne Plunkett II, exited his truck and spoke with the officer.

Plunkett produced his driver’s licencs but when asked about an object in his pocket that’s shape strongly resembled a methamphetamine smoking device, Plunkett denied it’s existance and then attempted to conseal it.

After being assisted in placing the item on the ground, which was in fact a pipe, Plunkett was placed under arrest.

A search of Plunkett’s pockets yielded a cellophane wrapper containing methamphetamine.

A search of the vehicle yileded a smoking device used for methamphetamine and a wooden marijuana dugout.

Plunkett was transported to the Izard County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance, schedule II, a class D felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.

Bond for Plunkett was set at $5,000.
