The Izard County Sheriff’s Department has taken several complaints today [May 11, 2022] of people receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be a deputy with our department. The individual has been using names of actual employees with the department. They are telling people there is some sort of problem and some calls have asked for money to be sent electronically. The caller has even been leaving a “non emergency” number for people to call back.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Department will never ask for you to send money electronically and will never to tell you you can pay a warrant over the phone. The only non-emergency phone number to the Izard County Sheriff’s Department is (870) 368-4203. If you receice a call and you are not sure it is actually an employee with the Sheriff’s Department get the name of the caller and call the Sheriff’s Department back using our number and not one provided by the caller and ask to speak with the name the caller gave.
