A fire on Palm Sunday has left a Hardy family homeless and mourning the loss of two pets.

According to Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose, a home on W Clayton Street in fire caught fire and was fully engulfed when authorities arrived.

“The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Two adults, a child and four dogs were in the home,” Rose said. “The adults, child and two of the four dogs made it out of the fire.”

Rose said a boxer massive named Gru and a boxer named Riley were lost in the fire.

Rose said the family is in need of most everything but predominately clothing is the immediate need.

Although there were three people present during the fire, additional individuals resided in the home.

In kids boys, size 8-10 shirts, size 10 jeans; size 12-14 shirts and 12-14 jeans. Shirts large to extra large, pants 32-30, shoes size 7, 6 and 9 to 9.5.

In woman’s, medium to large shirts, size 8 pants.

In mens, medium to large shirts and size 3232 pants.

“Tenants Moranda Huff and John ‘JJ’ Huff were able to rescue two of the dogs as well as their eight-year-old son without any major injuries. Unfortunately there was no insurance on the home Red Cross has been notified,” Rose said. “I know the family has lost everything and there are three more children that were not in the home at the time.”
