A man who pushed a woman out of her wheelchair and attacked her with a knife is facing multiple charges in Fulton County.

According to an affidavit for probable cause of arrest filed Dec. 11 for 37-year-old Stephen Lee Lewis II, on Nov. 9, officers were dispatched to a home on Elm Street in Salem for a domestic in progress.

When the officer was en route, he was flagged down by a neighbor who stated the victim was inside her home.

The victim had recently had major surgery and as a result was in a wheel chair to help with mobility while she healed.

The victim said Lewis had returned home after being gone for several days and appeared to be high on methamphetamine.

After asking Lewis if he was high, the victim said Lewis pushed the victim out of her wheelchair and began hitting her with his fists and the end of a knife for “most of the night”.

The victim also said Lewis stated he would stab the victim to death.

After finding out the victim had called 911, Lewis destroyed her phone but while she was on the phone with 911, Lewis could be heard repeatedly threatened to kill her if she called the cops.

The victim was able to escape and make her way to a neighbors residence for help.

Officers checked the residence where the altercation took place and noted broken glass, a broken TV and an overturned wheelchair.

Lewis had fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

One month later, on Dec. 9, an off duty officer spotted Lewis at a Dollar General Store and reported to on duty officers his whereabouts.

When the on-duty officer arrived at the scene, he was informed Lewis had been in his vehicle, reached into the back, and then re-entered the Dollar General Store after seeing the officer approaching.

The officer made contact with Lewis, and asked if he had anything on his person. Lewis then began reaching underneath his shirt and the officer grabbed his arm and placed him in hand restraints.

After searching Lewis, a knife was located in the area he had been reaching and methamphetamine was found in his vehicle.

A search of Lewis’s vehicle yielded an open container of alcohol, used hypodermic syringe, marijuana grinder, pill bottle with another person’s name on it and the vehicle to have fictitious tags. Lewis was transported to the Fulton County Jail and charged with fictitious tags and open container. He was then placed on hold pending felony charges related to the hypodermic syringe and the domestic battery incident.

Lewis was charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a class D felony; domestic battery in the third degree, a class D felony; terroristic threatening, a class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D felony and open container, a class C misdemeanor.

Bond for Lewis was set at $30,000.
