Kenneth Waters Jr., 60, of Williford, the man taken into custody by authorities April 1 after Waters shot his then girlfriend Felicia Blackwell is now facing charges of murder in the second degree, a class A felony and possession of methamphetamine a class D felony.

According to documents filed at the Sharp County Courthouse June 1, on April 1, a post-Miranda interview was conducted with Waters regarding Blackwell who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Waters stated the two had been fighting off and on for the past few days and that their relationship had deteriorated to the point the two had agreed to separate.

The morning of the shooting, the two had argued and Waters stated he went to the bedroom and sat on the bed with a sawed-off shotgun.

Blackwell came to the door at which time Waters said he put the gun to his head threatening to kill himself.

Blackwell called Waters an a**h*** and left the room.

Waters told authorities he was Catholic and could not kill himself.

When Blackwell returned to the bedroom a second time, Waters aimed the shotgun at her and fired.

Waters then took Blackwell to the emergency room. She was later transported to an area hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.
