Richard Hancock, 35, of Horseshoe Bend faces multiple felony charges after a traffic stop March 4, yielded methamphetamine, an open container of alcohol and more.

According to an affidavit for arrest, on March 4, Arkansas State Trooper First Class Jason Long conducted a traffic stop near Highway 62E near Glencoe.

Long contacted the driver and informed him the reason for the stop was defective equipment.

Hancock was not wearing his seat belt and an odor of marijuana and alcohol was coming from the vehicle.

Hancock was also disoriented and began to apologize. Hancock exited the vehicle and was placed in hand restraints due to the level of impairment.

Long conducted a search of the vehicle and found a plastic syringe full of a clear liquid that later tested positive as methamphetamine, a .22 rifle, two jars of a green leafy substance, a set of digital scales, open container of alcohol and more.

Hancock was transported to the Fulton County Jail. A filed sobriety test was given, however; Hancock showed many signs of impairment. He was read the Arkansas Statement of DWI Rights and refused to provide a urine sample.

As a result, Hancock has been charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a class Y felony; possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine, a class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia with purpose to ingest methamphetamine, a class D felony; possession of a VI controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; DWI, a class A misdemeanor; drinking in public or on public highway, a class C misdemeanor; refusal to submit to chemical test, no seat belt and defective equipment.
