Recently Tyler and Jessica Booth felt strongly enough about the necessity of a Blessing Box in Cave City that they had one constructed.
What’s an Blessing box, you ask? Tyler has answered many of the questions that come to mind about this.
“This is an honor-based system for local donations. We ask that you give what you can to stock the box as often as possible. If you are in need, feel free to take whatever items you may need. ‘Give what you can, take what you need, above all be blessed.’” Tyler wrote.
“The blessing box is located on South Main Street in Cave City in the Veteran’s Memorial Park, its directly across from Millie’s restaurant,” Tyeler pointed out, “under the big watermelon billboard.”
How can you donate? “If you have items you want to place in the box, open it up and stock it like your own pantry at home. There is no lock and nothing barring access. If you don’t have time to shop and stock the box yourself, contact me about monetary donations. 100% of donations will be converted to items for the box.” Tyler can be reached at 870-847-3147.
“Non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items are the primary donations expected.” The following is a list of suggestions for potential donations:
- Items such as canned goods (fruits, veggies, meats, chili’s, soups, beans, etc.)
- Dry pasta (spaghetti, ramen, etc.)
- Boxed/bagged cereals
- Individually wrapped snacks (chips, crackers, etc.)
- Feminine hygiene items
- Toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, etc.
If you have questions or suggestions, please reach out to me or Jessica. Our hope is that this turns into a community-wide effort to support those in our community who need a helping hand.
Please share this post and spread the word. As a side note, I would love to partner with local businesses as sponsors (or something similar) for the box. If you own a business or know someone interested, please contact me and we can discuss and create a few options. Thank you all!
Cave City Mayor Jonas Anderson reported, “Along with the terrific landscaping project at the #cavecityveteranspark last week, the Entergy Arkansas (Independence Plant) volunteers also installed this donated ‘Blessing Box’.”
“You can thank our own Tyler and Jessica Booth for this great addition to the community, and for seeing that it is well taken care of going forward. As they said, hopefully anyone who uses it, or helps fill it, will receive a blessing.
The box itself was donated by Jeff of Huskey Built Custom Cabinets, and the quality is really incredible. Thank you, Jeff!
Contact Tyler if you’d like more information, or to volunteer and help them with this project, by calling 870-847-3147. Volunteers and supporters are definitely needed.
Please be sure to thank Tyler and Jessica, and Jeff, for this! As you can see, it takes lots of caring people to make good things happen.
