An Alton man was killed Aug. 21 near Warmfork Road in Thayer. According to a press release from the Thayer Police Department, just after 5:30 p.m., a single vehicle crash was reported to the department on U.S. Hwy 63 near Warmfork Road.
Officers responded to the scene and found the vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet pickup and the driver of the vehicle, 77-year-old Richard Haigwood of Alton who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“This crash was investigated by Thayer Police Department and was assisted in the investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Oregon County Sheriff’s Office. Other agencies that responded and assisted with this crash scene are Oregon County Ambulance District, Thayer Fire Department, Survival Flight, and Alton Police Department. We thank all agencies involved for their assistance,” the release said.
