As inflation continues to impact prices across the country, many families struggle with food insecurity.

One local organization, Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (T.O.P.S), is hosting a food drive to help area food pantries meet the needs of the families who come to them seeking help to combat food insecurity.

“There are many families in our community who are struggling to put food on the table, TOPS member Leila Weeks said. “Food banks have been a life saver for them. Some food banks find there is not have enough food to distribute to each family.”

Weeks said T.O.P.S. is having a food drive to help meet the needs of our community. “Donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off at Harps Grocery in Highland, Bill’s Cash Saver Grocery and Smokin’ Ricks BBQ in Hardy,” Weeks said. “Any cash donations can be dropped off at Smokin’ Ricks BBQ. Donations will be given to our local food banks.”
