The battle belongs to the Lord. Do you ever get tired of fighting your battles and losing? Do you wonder why that might be? Look at all the times God sent a small army to conquer a city and they were outnumbered. God was the one who arranged their victory. It was not won by their own strength. He wanted them to know who fought the battle. David and Goliath, do we really believe a small stone and a sling shot held by a young boy could bring down a giant? Of course not, God made sure the stone had enough force and the exact spot it would hit would fall the giant man. David had the faith God would show up.
We all have battles to fight and plenty of obstacles to try to overcome. We think it is us against the world. It isn’t at all. God is on standby to fight our battles for us. He is not going to get involved unless we come to him and surrender that battle to him. That takes faith, obedience and patience. If we go alone as most people do, we will find over selves overwhelmed, outmatched and defeated almost every single time. Here is what we do also sometimes. God, I am turning this battle over to you, I can’t fight this battle, I leave it here at the alter for you to take this heavy burden from me. He takes it and begins the fight. Two days later we don’t visibly see what God is doing so we go back to fighting the battle our self. God stops helping because we stopped trusting Him. We are in His way and until we get out of the way and truly leave it with Him, He is just going to watch us fail.
God, the creator of the universe can fight our battles and accomplish far more than we ever could on our own. The more the odds are stacked against us the better He likes it because then we know it was God who won the battle. All that is required of us is trusting God and obeying His commands. If we are not obeying His commands, don’t expect Him to fight your battles.
This week I have fought more battles than I have in the past year. Why? Because I spent 48 hours with Christ at Men’s Encounter and Satan was waiting for me when I left that camp. He has had me bound up, stumbling around, fighting a fight I cannot win. I never stopped and surrendered my battle to God. I just kept fighting till Sunday I was so exhausted I was late for church and unable to engage with others or God. I know Satan wanted to bring me down from my high I was on from being with 250 men worshipping God. Satan attacked all of us in one form or another. Where were my faith and obedience?
You see, I don’t have it all together in my walk with Christ. I failed miserably this week. I should have stopped and asked God to fight Satan because I knew he was coming after me and he sure did in a big way. He started on Monday morning and never stopped. All week long I was defeated at every turn while God looked on. He waited patiently for me to come to Him and surrender the fight to Him. It was not something He enjoyed watching, it was hurtful that I did not ask Him to fight the battle for me.
In closing, stop fighting and lay that battle at the feet of Jesus. DO NOT pick it back up and take it back because God is not doing it the way you would have or in your timing. Leave it at the altar and walk away believing and trusting God to win.
If you are disobeying God and in continual sin without repentance, do not expect God to fight your battles. Not happening.
