Trey Steimel of Pocahontas officially announced his candidacy on the Republican ticket for Arkansas District Two State Representative on Monday, Feb. 28. The new legislative district includes Western Randolph County along with segments of Sharp and Fulton Counties.

Steimel, a native of Pocahontas is a Shelter Insurance Affiliate Agent in Pocahontas and a real estate investor focused on expanding housing in the local community. In addition to building and managing two successful real estate companies in Northwest Arkansas, Steimel has over 15 years of retail management experience.

“I look forward to the opportunity to serve the people of Randolph, Sharp and Fulton Counties in the Arkansas State Legislature,” stated Steimel. “As a small business owner, I understand the importance of fiscal responsibility in today’s economy along with the main challenges that many hardworking Arkansans face every day. Although rural District Two is known for its rich natural resources, diverse industry and strong growth. As your next state legislator I will make it my priority to ensure our collective voice is heard at the Capitol.”

Steimel is a graduate of Pocahontas High School and an alumni of the University of Central Arkansas. In addition to his work, Steimel is active in the community as a Rotarian. HE is past president and board member of the Pocahontas chapter. Steimel also volunteers as a coach for local youth sports in Randolph County. 

As a State Representative, Steimel will focus on supporting growth and economic development in District Two. He is committed to ensuring both county and local municipalities throughout the area have equitable access to necessary infrastructure and education funding. Steimel is also focused on keeping our growing communities safe by making sure law enforcement has the tools and resources.

“I believe a State Representative should serve the communities in their district by being both visible and easily accessible to constituents along with local government officials,” commented Steimel. “By keeping the lines of communication open, we can work together to impact the district as a whole, as well as represent the unique needs of each individual community.

Steimel lives in Pocahontas with his wife, Mallory. The couple has five children, Kristin, Sara, Ryan, Dru and Evelyn. They are members of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. In his free time, Steimel enjoys hunting and fishing throughout the region along with spending time with his family at the lake or river. 

A Republican primary election will take place on May 24, 2022. the general election is scheduled for Nov. 8.
