A Cherokee Village man already charged with multiple felonies regarding sex crimes plead not-guilty to two separate cases in Sharp County April 1.

Slater appeared in court in Sharp County April 1 to answer to charges of two counts of sexual assault in the second degree, a class B felony which stem from incidents in June of 2015 and in a separate case, plead not guilty to four counts of rape, a class Y felony which stems from incidents in January of 2019 and again in December of 2023.

According to documents filed March 28 in Fulton County, Charles Edward Slater now faces two counts of rape, a class Y felony for offenses dating back to 1999-2000.

A warrant for Slater’s arrest has been issued on the charges in Fulton County, however; Slater is currently being held in the Sharp County Detention Center for the two initial arrests.

Bond for the Fulton County charges is set at $100,000; bond for the four counts of rape in Sharp County is set at $150,000; and bond for the charges of sexual assault in the second degree in Sharp County was initially set at $250,000, and a motion has been filed by Slater’s attorney to reduce bond to $100,000, but no answer has been filed by Judge Alex Bigger at this time.

Collectively, Slater’s bonds are $500,000.
