On April 6th, 2025, Sharp County deputies responded to 59 Racoon Lane in Smithville regarding a welfare check on Genevieve Whitt. Genevieve’s relative called and stated she had not heard from her since the tornado and was concerned for her wellbeing.
Once deputics arrived, they observed two vehicles in the driveway and attempted to make contact at the residence. Due to the circumstances deputies forced entry into the residence. Upon entry they observed Genevieve Whitt and her boyfriend, Danny Garner deceased on the floor. Genevieve appeared to have injuries consistent with being struck with a hammer on several parts of her body.
Danny was found to have an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. During the investigation it was learned that both individuals moved to Racoon Ln. approximately 3 weeks prior from Florida.
Both Geneveive and Danny were taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
