Multiple inmates in the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections facility in Calico Rock are facing a stack of charges after a riot at the detention center Feb. 3.

According to documents filed in the Izard County Circuit Clerks office Feb. 28, 20-year-old Donte Davis, 20-year-old Steffon Hunter, 20-year-old Lloyd Smith, 33-year-old Anthony Dennis, 20-year-old Dayvon Walker, 22-year-old Tattan Cummings and 20-year-old Jessie Helms have all been charged in the upset.

The investigation, lead by Arkansas State Police Special Agent Jackie Stinnett led to multiple felony charges being filed against each of the inmates listed.

Helms faces criminal mischief in the first degree and impairing the operations of a vital public facility after entering a fight with another inmate and later breaking six windows inside the barracks totaling $7,543 in damages.

Cummings faces charges of arson, impairing the operations of a vital public facility, battery in the third degree and rioting after punching an inmate in the face and setting fire to a sheet tied to window bars.

Walker faces two counts of battery in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first degree and battery in the first degree after assaulting multiple inmates in the facility and destroying medical equipment in the amount of $1,286.91.

Dennis faces charges of impairing the operation of a vital public facility, rioting, criminal mischief in the first degree and battery in the third degree. The charges stem from evidence confirmed by video showing Dennis participating in destroying windows at the facility and assaulting other inmates. The total cost of damage to the windows was $14,677.50.

Smith has been charged with impairing the operations of a vital public facility, mischief in the first degree, arson, rioting and battery in the third degree after helping to break windows out of the barracks, assaulting other inmates and setting sheets on fire inside the barracks. 

Hunter has been charged with impairing the operation of a vital public facility, criminal mischief in the first degree and rioting after helping break windows out of the barracks.

Davis has been charged with arson, rioting, impairing the operations of a vital public facility, criminal mischief in the first degree and two counts of battery in the third degree. The charges come after Davis assaulted several inmates, helped break windows out of the barracks and more. 

Each inmate was interviewed Feb. 16 with many refusing to make a statement regarding the incident.
