One local Realtor, Laura Clute,  is blowing the whistle on a scam designed to obtain personal information from victims after receiving a letter in the mail.

Victims will receive a letter stating records have been obtained through the county and that the home at the mailing address listed has been sold due to foreclosure.

Although the letter isn’t riddled with typos or other glaring errors pointing to a scam, it is filled with information that would indicate its illegitimacy.

After telling the property owner their property has been sold following foreclosure, it goes on to encourage the recipient to call and speak to a “specialist” if they feel the letter is in error or more time is needed..

It goes on to claim that by speaking to a specialist, the unnamed company will “push banks to reverse the sale of your property and allow you to stay in your home between six months, up to one year even after the property has been sold”.

The letter claims the unnamed company can reverse the sale of foreclosed property that has already been sold at auction, to provide money for moving out of the home, help with relocation and more false promises of money.
