Authorities have closed the case and released the names of the two bodies discovered near Wirth Nov. 12.

According to a release from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Shane Russell said the sheriff’s department was contacted just after 11 a.m. and advised 22-year-old Michael Luke Adams (Luke) of Caraway and 46 year old Charles Gregory Adams (Gregory) of Marmaduke were possibly deceased inside a cabin on Banks Road.

When they arrived, they found the bodies of the two men in the floor.

Sharp County Criminal Investigation Division Captian of Operations conducted the investigation and spoke to Charles father, Charles Michael Adams (Michael), who explained the three men had spent the weekend hunting and staying at the cabin which Michael owned.

On the evening of Nov. 11 the three men had eaten dinner and watched TV, after which he went to bed and the other two stayed awake.

Around 3 a.m., he woke up and was cold, got out of bed and sat next to a propane stove located on the wall.

At some point he went to the restroom and had fallen down, unable to stand. He began yelling to the others for help but both were asleep.

Michael said he began hitting the wall with a solid object but neither his son nor grandson woke.

After several hours, Michael was able to stand, he opened the door and saw it was daylight and discovered Gregory and Luke on the floor unresponsive.

Michael said he had last seen the men asleep in their bunk beds and didn’t hear any loud noises while on the floor in the restroom. He left the cabin and found a neighbor to call 911.

While processing the scene, authorities found a dog in one of the beds which appeared to be disoriented and unresponsive to commands. The dog was helped off the bed and onto the floor.

The dog stumbled while trying to walk but became more alert once outside the cabin.

Detectives stated they detected a strong odor of propane inside the cabin and discovered the propane stove was In the “on” position but the tank was empty.

“Although officials suffered minor headaches from the gas, no medical response was needed. The case was able to be closed due to the magnificent work of these amazing investigator,” Russell said. “We would not be where we are on this if it were not for the guidance of Captain Williams.”

The bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for official confirmation for cause of death, however; it is believed carbon monoxide poisioning was responsbile.
