The Evening Shade Police Department reported the arrest of a Mountain Home man after the man was found to be intoxicated running red lights and sirens through the area.

According to a release from Officer Casey Poulette on Dec. 3 at approximately 6:18 p.m., he was contacted by the Cave City Police Department regarding a vehicle running red lights and traveling at a high rate of speed.

After confirming there was no active emergency in Sharp County, Poulette spotted the vehicle near US 167 and Arkansas Hwy 56.

The vehicle as running a roof mounted red light bar and a light on the hood flashing red and white with sirens initiated.

Officer Myles Clem was able to stop the vehicle near Janet Lane and spoke with occupants Perry Daniels and Angela Cullipher.

The pair told Clem they were responding to an emergency in Baxter County for a motor vehicle accident that occurred at 5:55 p.m.

Daniels told Clem the couple was only 20 minutes away from the scene and that he was with the Gamaliel Fire Department in Baxter County. Daniels also said the couple had been responding to the call since Batesville.

Daniels was arrested and transported to the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department. Daniels was cited for DWI drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance schedule VI, unlawful use of red or amber lights, improper operation of emergency vehicle, no insurance, careless driving, driving on a suspended license and driving left of center.

The passenger, Cullipher was cited and released for possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
