A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Sharp County man previously under investigation for sexual assault who is now charged with intimidating a witness, a class B felony.
According to the affidavit for warrant of arrest filed May 13, in September of 2022, Robert King was arrested for and charged with 10 counts of sexual assault in the second degree, and one count of resisting arrest by agents with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division regarding findings from the Crimes Against Children Division.
In October of 2022, as part of a child custody case, Judge Michelle Huff issued an order stating no party involved in caring the child was to discuss the case in any way with the child, King was one of the mentioned parties that would be involved in caring for the children.
Later that month, an employee with an area law firm emailed an audio recording of one the children involved in the child custody case being told about the sexual assault allegations by King, which was in direct violation of Judge Huff’s order.
“King stated that news of his arrest is public and all over town and that, ‘if they convict me, ya’ll keep telling that crap then they are going to lock your dad up for the rest of his life, or I could get the death penalty and they’re going to put me in a casket’”. King then could be heard confronting the child “Which one do you want? So why ya’ll telling this shit?”
When the child denied being part of the allegation, King demanded to know the name of the people involved. The child told King he could not share that information because Judge Huff had said not to, however; King didn’t care.
According to the report, in the recording, King can be heard pressing the child to give him the information, and playing a recording of a news story from a local news station about his arrest for the child.
King continued to place blame of his arrest and charges of sexual assault on the alleged victims, who are children.
King then asked the child if he loved him and continued to press the issue claiming the child would never see him again if he were convicted.
He also disclosed financial hardship he claimed to endure as a result of the court cases, stating his legal bills were $52,000 and that he had to sell many of his assets that could have belong to the child were it not for the court cases.
King then told the child if asked about whether any of the discussion had taken place, to deny it, which was also on the recording.
