A man has been arrested and charged after officers discovered several packages of suspected marijuana, mushrooms and THC edibles.

According to a report from the Cherokee Village Police Department, on Oct. 17, Officer Richard Crowe responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Dowell Lane and Cherokee Road.

When the officer arrived on scene, he was told the driver, identified as 31-year-old William Douglass had fled the scene on foot. He was located behind a residence on Dowell Lane and attempted to flee Crowe, but was detained. 

Medical Assistance was called for Douglas due to apparent injuries he’d sustained from the vehicle accident.

When officers found the bag of mushrooms, agents with the 3rd Judicial Drug Task Force were contacted, the narcotics seized and turned over to DTF.

Douglass was arrested and charged, after being released from a nearby medical facility, he was transported to the Sharp County Detention center.

As a result, Douglass has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, schedule I or II a class C felony and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
