Following the deadly storms that struck several towns in Arkansas March 31, one local church has begun collecting items which will be distributed to the town of Wynne and other affected areas.

According to Mike Stanley, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church located in Highland, donations will be accepted through April 6, and distributed to those in need April 7.

“We prefer not to take any clothes, people are always good about clothes but they are a challenge to distribute when you’re just coming in like we are, short term, to a delivery point. What we do need and what we can take are personal hygiene items, water, cleaning supplies, tools, shovels and rakes, chainsaws, mops, mop buckets, just any thing that would be practice. You can look online also for a list of tornado relief supplies,” Stanley said. “We will also have cash on hand to help with specific needs if anyone would like to make a monetary donation.”

The church’s fellowship hall will be open April 3 through April 6 beginning at 9 a.m. to accept donations.
