As Independence Day approaches, so do area celebrations many of which will be two-day events.

The Evening Shade Community will hold its annual Picnic in the Park and Patriotic Parade Walk on July 3 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

There will be free hotdogs and other refreshments until supplies run out. There will also be water games and yard games.

The patriotic walk takes place at 1 p.m.

In Cherokee Village, events will kick off July 3 at 6:30 a.m. with the annual Cherokee Village Firefighter’s Pancake Breakfast at the Baseheart Fire Station. The breakfast will run until 12 noon.

Also, the Spring River Farmers Market will kick off at 9 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m.

On July 4, Thunder on Thunderbird will kick off at 7 p.m. at Lake Thunderbird with the Patriotic Boat Parade. The fireworks show will take place at 9 p.m. on the Lake Thunderbird Dam.

In Horseshoe Bend, the annual 4th of July in the Bend “Stronger Together Under the Red, White and Blue” festivities will take place starting July 3.

The craft fair will take place at Calabama’s in Horseshoe Bend. The parade lineup takes place at 9:15 a.m. at the Airport and the parade will begin at 10 a.m.

Starting at 1 p.m., the kiddie parade and face painting will take place at the Library Walking Trail.

Saturday afternoon, the car show will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. with participants asked to arrive by 3 p.m.

A street dance will also be held between 4 to 7 p.m. with DJ Steve Clark.

On July 4, festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with the annual Floatilla at 5 p.m. followed by the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. at Turkey Mountain.

The Thayer Fourth of July Celebration will take place starting at 5 p.m. at the Thayer Football Field. There will be live entertainment, food vendors and the fireworks show at dusk.

The City of Salem Fourth of July Celebration will take place July fourth beginning with a cornhole tournament on the Salem square starting at 6 p.m. Registration for the tournament will be held at Whatever in Salem.

Additionally, there will be a Generations Pro Rodeo at 7 p.m. at the Fulton County Fairgrounds with vendors on site. Admission to the rodeo is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 to six and children five and under may enter for free.

There will also be food vendors and a fireworks show which will take place at dusk.

The Ozark Acres July 4 celebration will take place July 3 starting at 1 p.m. with a live band and food available for purchase at Lake Vagabond in Ozark Acres.

The Sidney Independence Day Celebration will be held July 4 starting at 4 p.m.

The event will feature music, concessions, snow cones, bounce houses and more.

A baggo tournament will kick off at 5 p.m., with fireworks at dusk.
