An Izard County man is currently in custody, charged with 55 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child following his arrest April 20.

According to a report from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, the charges against 40-year-old Terry Johnson Jr., of Horseshoe Bend, followed an instigation into multiple reports that Johnson had uploaded or exchanged Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CASM) on more than 15 separate occasions between April and June of 2022.

A series of reports were made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) beginning April 12, 2022 after Johnson’s phone was flagged for content that contained CASM. From that date, until June 22, Johnson’s phone was flagged a total of 18 times for child pornography.

Authorities with the Arkansas State Police began receiving files from the NCMEC May 6, 2022 and began their investigation.

Once images had been received and viewed by authorities, search warrants were issued for Johnson’s multitude of e-mail accounts, phone, and social media account.

Information was compiled as a result of the warrants which yielded a multitude of disturbing images, search results and CASM, including multiple firearm and ammo purchases, links to child pornography websites and dark web links to violent acts being conducted against children, bestiality, searches of violent pornography specifically related to pre-pubescent children and a search for “how to make chloroform”.

As a result, Johnson was taken into custody and charged with 55 counts of possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a class C felony.

Bond for Johnson has been set at $200,000.
