The Highland School District informed the public of another threat made to one of the district’s schools this month.
Late in the evening on Dec. 16, the district made a social media post informing the public of the threat and resolution thereof.
“High school administration was alerted to a potential threat late this afternoon. The school SRO was immediately notified, who identified the suspect and confirmed the threat though an investigation. Appropriate action has been taken in this matter,” the district said in the post. “These threats, whether made in person or online, are taken very seriously and are always thoroughly investigated. They will follow procedures and laws according to the state of Arkansas. The top priority of the Highland School District is to ensure the safety of our student and staff. We always encourage you to notify authorities if you see or hear of something suspicious – let’s work together to keep our school safe.”
This marks the second threat made this month as a similar post was made by the district on Dec. 8, however; the earlier threat was with regard to the middle school.
“Highland Middle School administration was alerted to a potential school threat over the weekend following the discovery of a social media post. Local law enforcement was immediately notified and the suspect later identified through an investigation,” the district said. “These threats, whether made in person or online, are taken very seriously and are always thoroughly investigated. They will follow procedures and laws according to the state of Arkansas…”
The nature of the threats have not been released.
