A 70-year-old Fulton County man was arrested at the Viola Library after it was discovered he had been using the public facility to look at pornography.

According to an affidavit for arrest filed in the Fulton County Circuit Clerk’s Office Jan. 14, on Jan. 7, Chief Deputy Jake Smith was notified by Boyd Dailey that Lester Hendrix was at the Viola Library using the internet to look at pornography.

When Smith arrived, he found Hendrix in the library and when Hendrix saw the officer approaching, he turned his tablet faced down.

Smith then asked what Hendrix was looking at Hendrix turned his tablet so Smith could see.

Smith saw Hendrix was not only looking at pornography but was once again on a chat site that had gotten Hendrix arrested in the past.

Hendrix was placed under arrest and after being read his rights, Lester said he had been looking at porn and admitted the electronic device he was using was not registered with the sex offender officer. The email Hendrix was using was also not registered.

Arkansas law requires a registered sex offender, such as Hendrix is required to register all devices capable of access to the internet and all social media platforms including email addresses.

Lester Hendrix has been charged with two classes of failure to register as a sex offender or report an address change, a class C felony.

In 2013, Lester was found guilty of internet stalking of a child, a class B felony. In March of 2015, he was found guilty of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting a child sexually, a class C felony.

A search warrant has been issued as of Jan. 13 for the tablet Hendrix was using.
