Several veterans day events are slated to take place in the tri-county area, but something new this year is the introduction of the first ever Hardy Veterans Day Parade.
“We are going to be having a parade that will go down Main Street and we will start at Hardy City Hall and come down main street,” Hardy Mayor Ethan Barnes said.
Area veterans are not only welcome to attend and participate in the parade, but are encouraged to do so.
“Any Veteran that would like to be a part of our parade, we have a spot for you. We want you to come and be recognized. We want to recognize our veterans,” Barnes said.
Those who wish to participate are encouraged to be at City Hall in Hardy prior to 2:45 p.m. with the parade to begin at 3 p.m. and Barnes said, thanks to a partnership with the Highland Elks Lodge, Barnes said the veterans whill be able to ride in style.
“They have built two floats for our veterans to ride on during the parade on Saturday. If you’ve like a place to ride, we have a place for you,” Barnes said.
The American Legion Post 346 will also participate in the parade.
