Overview of County Conventions County conventions are statutory meetings of all precinct delegates within a county, organized as part of the party’s Basic Political Organizational Unit (BPOU). They serve to govern local party activities, elect officers, and coordinate with state and congressional districts. These conventions occur every two years, aligning with general elections, and are governed by state law and party rules.

Precinct Delegate Responsibilities in Even Year Conventions During even-year conventions, precinct delegates consider resolutions to amend the party platform and elect delegates to congressional district and state conventions. All precincts participate, and passed resolutions are forwarded for broader consideration.

Summary Precinct delegates, serving two-year terms, play a vital role in shaping party policies, leadership, and structure through their participation in county conventions, which are mandated by law and governed by party rules.
