The family of 56-year-old Donna McKinley the woman who was killed after a hit and run in Newport Feb. 21 is asking for the public’s help to bring the person responsible to justice.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the incident was reported just shortly after 6 p.m. when McKinley was walking south on North State Street when she was struck by a vehicle.

She was taken to Unity Health-Unity Medical center where she later died as a result of her injuries.

In a post on social media, McKinley’s brother and local resident Tommy Crowell asked the public for help, “If you can share this and help the Newport Police catch the person who did this. My sister was run over and left to die on the side of the road. They (the police) have a vehicle description. A chevy pickup 2003-to-2005-year range. Light color, has a missing headlight and damage to the right passenger side of the truck. Any help would be appreciated,” Crowell said.

If you have any information regarding the hit and run, contact the Newport Police Department at 870-523-2722.

A go-fund-me, listed as the Donna Crowell McKinley Funeral, has also been created by the family to help with funeral expenses.
