There are some familiar faces in a new location in Horseshoe Bend as Natural State Relics has relocated to the upper level of the Diamond B Mall next to the Music in the Mountains Theater.
According to Art Mumma, Owner of Natural State Relics, the company opened in 2021 but quickly outgrew the space and with the new space comes room for growth and new opportunities to serve the community and patrons.
“We are a consignment store; we rent space out and shelves out. We sell items on consignment and have our own items too. We have everything from antiques to new jewelry and clothes,” Mumma said. “We’re expanding. We’d bought the inventory of the store that was here before and have three rooms we’re still working on.”
Mumma said part of the expansion will include an activities room offering something for everyone.
“We’re still unearthing things and some of those rooms will have different uses. We have one we’re finishing the painting on that will be a virtual reality room and it will be a space kids can come and rent those sets and play,” Mumma said. “It will also be our activities room we have painting classes scheduled, we’ll schedule some yoga classes and some other types of classes.”
When wandering through the newly expanded shop, one never knows what they might find. From the more traditional kitchen items, a treasure in the trove of books or even an emergency pump from a battleship.
“We do actually have an emergency pump from an old battleship. We don’t know what we’re going to do with that just yet,” Mumma said.
When asked about rates, Mumma said he and his team, consisting of three generations of family, including his son Gene strive to keep rates competitive.
“If someone wanted to rent a space, they just need to contact us and our rates are $125 a month with a two-month minimum for the booths. We take a 10 percent commission. Shelf space for four shelves is $40 a month and we take a 25 percent commission our consignment rate,” Mumma said. “If someone wants to come and add to a class or host a class, they just need to contact us and we’ll work with them.”
