A group of concerned citizens are working to launch a neighborhood watch in Sharp and Fulton Counties.

According to founding member Dave Gruger, the first meeting will be held May 21 at 4:30 p.m. at the Abundant Life Church in Cherokee Village.

Gruger said local law enforcement is aware of the groups intentions and will be in attendance.

“Cherokee Village Police Chief Monte Lane said if he can’t make it he would have his Sergeant there,” Gruger said. “We have also reached out to both Sharp County Sherrif candidates and are trying to do the same for all other law enforcement candidates and agencies.”

Gruger said the group is targeting Cherokee Village but in both Sharp and Fulton Counties as the city is located in both counties.

“This first meeting is to get us organized and broken down into smaller community groups,”Gruger said. “We also want to speak with law enforcement.”

Gruger said pamphlets with contact and other information will also be available.
