There are a number of things taking place in Cave City on Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 11th that we hope everyone can participate in.

The Cave City Middle School History Club will have a short Veterans Day program at 11:00 a.m. at the Cave City Veterans Monument, next to City Hall and the large “Welcome to Cave City” sign downtown. Contact sponsor Trish Turnbough at the school for more information.

Afterward, everyone is invited to the city park. Curly Tail Smokers BBQ will be set up from noon-6:00 p.m. Veterans’ meals will be provided. Meals are $10 each for the general public, and include a pulled pork or shredded BBQ chicken sandwich, with sides. All proceeds, and any additional donations, will go to the Aaron James’ family. Aaron is a Cave City veteran of the Arkansas National Guard, who suffered extensive injuries in a work-related accident. Contact local veteran Bill Nesbitt for more information.

A representative from the Independence County Veterans Service Office will be on hand to answer veterans benefits questions. Cave City Pharmacy will be giving flu shots from noon-2:30 at the park.

THANK YOU to Trish Turnbough, Bill Nesbitt, and everyone else that have organized this event to recognize and serve our veterans.
