Circuit Judge Kevin King was a graduate of Highland High School in 1972, the University of Arkansas in 1976, and the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1978.  He served the counties of Sharp, Lawrence, Randolph, and Jackson counties as Circuit Judge of the Third Judicial District.  Judge King was always concerned about the welfare of students.  The Kevin King Memorial Scholarship was established to assist students with their post high school studies.

$40,000 in scholarships have been presented since the inception of this memorial to honor Judge King’s dedication to our youth.

The following students were selected as 2026 scholarshiprecipients from Sharp County. Each student received a $1,000.

Owen Hyslip is a graduate of Highland High School; he plans to attend Arkansas State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.  Charslee Goodman is a graduate of Highland High School and plans to attend Arkansas State University to further her education in exercise science and become a Physical Therapist.

Each of these students may receive scholarship renewals for an additional three years.
