A Youth Market will be held at the Mission of Hope located at 3968 Hwy 62/412 in Hardy Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and again on the second Saturday in October and November.
According to Holly Melson event organizer and co-administrator for the Mission of Hope, the idea for the market came after a brainstorming session with her daughter.
“My daughter wanted to raise some money for a concert next summer and we started talking and realized that there are a lot of talented youth in our area that would like the opportunity to earn some money for wants of their own,” Melson said. “They just needed a place to showcase what they have and we could help with that.”
The event is free, there is no booth fee or entry fee and the market is open for vendors beginning in grade school through young adulthood. Participants intending to attend will need to provide their own tables and chairs.
“The sky is the limit. I told my daughter I felt they would do well because there is so much community support and even after my children are grown, I want to do this for community youth because it gives them something you can’t get any other way. These kids go out and do their own work, create their own things and now they can market them to people,” Melson said.
For more information or to register, call the Mission of Hope at 870-856-5511 or you may e-mail[email protected].
“If they call and no one answers, they need to leave a message and we will call them back. There are release forms that will need to be signed by a parent or guardian.
Melson said pre-registration is preferred; however, if a youth arrives with a parent or guardian on the day, space will be made available.
