A Viola man is facing a slew of charges in Fulton County after authorities discovered drugs, paraphernalia and a firearm in the man’s vehicle during a sobriety checkpoint.
On Jan.25, at approximately 3:30 p.m., 35-year-old Eric Rodgers, who identified himself as Tommy Rogers entered the checkpoint.

The officer then called for a wrecker and placed Rodgers in Custody.
After a search of his person, Rodgers was placed in the back of a patrol unit and an inventory of his vehicle was taken yielding a 9mm pistol.
When the two arrived at the jail, Rodgers denied having any contraband on his person, but did admit to lying about his name, stating he had provided the name and birth date of his brother.
It was noted Rodgers is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess a firearm.
While being searched by jail personnel, a bag with a white crystalline substance was found on Rodgers.
As a result, Rodgers has been charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, a class Y felony; possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, a class C felony; possession of firearm by certain persons, a class D felony; furnishing prohibited articles, a class C felony; and misdemeanor criminal impersonation, insurance required, driving on suspended, canceled or revoked license and with an enhancement penalty as a habitual offender.
