A teen in Fulton County is facing a felony charge for theft of property after using fake money to purchase a truck.

According to an affidavit for probable cause of arrest filed Sept. 21 in early September 18-year-old Nathaniel Griffith contacted the owner of a 2002 GMC Denali through the Facebook Marketplace and set up a time and place to meet.

When meeting with the owner, Griffith handed the vehicle owner an envelope and drove off in the truck.

When the man opened the envelope a short time later, he found the money to be fake and called the police.

Chief James Turnbough then spotted the vehicle and pulled Griffith over, placed him under arrest and transported him to the Mammoth Spring Police Department where Griffith provided a statement admitting to the incident.
