Strawberry River Chapter NSDAR met Saturday, January 13 in a zoom meeting with 12 members and one associate member in attendance.

Following the opening ritual and approval of minutes and the treasurer’s report, an update was presented on Wreaths Across America. The chapter is a recognized sponsor of WAA; members can now purchase wreaths for presentation in December 2024. There are 350 Veterans we honor who are buried at the Mountain Home Cemetery.

Members welcomed our newest member Marilyn Thomas of Cherokee Village.

A video program on Genealogical Research System (GRS) was presented. GRS is a collection of databases that provide access to the many materials amassed by the DAR since its founding in 1890. DAR members across the country are passionate ambassadors for genealogical preservation and research, and the National Society is committed to being a premier provider of genealogical resources.

In closing, members were “treated” with a different refreshment at this zoom meeting. From the DAR Museum, a video on “Charlotte Cachée Cake” was shown; it demonstrated a recipe from an 1875 cookbook “Breakfast, Luncheon, and Tea”.
