Nearly three pounds of methamphetamine and other drugs were confiscated during the course of an ongoing narcotics investigation by the Third Judicial District Drug Task Force.
According to a release from the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department, on July 8 a tip was received that a black Ford Mustang with damage to the front end and windshield was driving through cave city with illegal narcotics inside.
Agents with the Third Judicial Drug Task Force notified Lt. Trent Milligan of the Cave City Police Department.
Officers Milligan and Dalton Hooker began searching the area for the vehicle.
Just after 8 p.m, Hooker spotted the vehicle on Main Street and conducted a traffic stop.
Lt. Milligan and his K9 Bandit soon arrived on scene. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as McCabe West and Melissa Blaskiewicz. Both were asked to step from the vehicle after Bandit alerted.
As a result, 1,279 grams of methamphetamine was confiscated.
Both individuals were transported to the Sharp County Detention Center with a bond of $250,000 each.
Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell stated “this is another example of what inter-agency cooperation can produce. We would like to thank the Cave City Police Department and K9 Bandit for their assistance in taking illegal narcotics off the streets of Sharp County.”
Both West and Blaskiewicz have been charged with felony trafficking of a controlled substance, a class Y felony.
