A warrant has been issued in Fulton County for a Waldron man who allegedly wrote nearly $100,000 worth of hot checks to a local livestock yard.
According to the affidavit for warrant of arrest filed April 2, for 74-yera-old David Degroot on March 13, authorities were contacted by the livestock yard that three checks written by Degroot of Degroot Livestock had been returned for insufficient funds.
The first check dated April 25 of 2024 was returned in the amount of $30,435.48; the second in the amount of $28,778.26 from September 4, 2024 and another the same date in the amount of $38,708.57.
In total, $97,922.31 is owed to the local livestock company. The owner told authorities Degroot has been contacted numerous times and has not paid for the incifficent checks.
Degroot is facing one felony count of hot check greater than $25,000 a class B felony.
