A couple pictured on social media stealing coins and damaging property at the Salem Laundry Mat have been identified and one man has been charged after contacting the sheriff’s office demanding photos be removed from social media.

According to an affidavit for warrant of arrest filed Nov. 1, on Oct. 31, the owner of the Salem Laundry Mat contacted authorities and stated a male, later identified as 38-year-old Alfonso Moran Jr., and a female identified as Caleigh Ann Mortensen had entered the laundry mat and Moran had cut locks off of the machine, taking coins and cash. The stolen funds were estimated to be $600.

Photos of the two were then placed on social media and citizens began calling the sheriff’s department providing the idenity of the two.

Later on Halloween day, Moran called the sheriff’s office on a recorded line stating the two in the photograph were himself and his girlfriend Mortensen.

Moran then demanded the photos be removed from social media.

As a result, Moran has been charged with breaking or entering, a class D felony and theft of property.

His bond was set at $10,000.
