An Izard County man is facing the charge of terroristic threatening in the first degree, a class D felony after allegedly threatening to kill his brother while attempting to load a crossbow.
According to the affidavit for warrant of arrest for 26-year-old Hunter Townsley, on Dec. 14, Deputy Nick Taylor was dispatched to a home on Church Street in Horseshoe Bend for a report of a domestic dispute.
When Taylor arrived, he met with three brothers, Hunter Townsley, Weston Townsley and Dakota Townsley.
Weston was holding a crossbow and arrows walking toward the deputy.
Weston stated his brother Hunter had threatened his life several times with the crossbow.
The bow was cocked but did not have an arrow loaded.
Weston explained an altercation took place after Weston had confronted Hunter about leaving the windows of Weston’s truck down during the rain.
Taylor spoke with all three brothers at which time Hunter said an argument did take place. Hunter said he had stated he would clean the truck, but that Weston was trying to be the “boss” telling him what to do.
Hunter stated Weston then punched him in the face and a fight broke out, but the fight ended after Weston chocked him out.
Dakota stated it was Hunter and not Weston who had started the fight.
Weston and Dakota both stated Hunter had threatened Weston’s life, grabbing the crossbow and cocking it.
Dakota stated that is the point at which he got involved and was able to take the crossbow from Hunter.
Hunter denied ever pointing the cross bow at Weston.
On Dec. 16, Investigator Sean Tomlinson spoke with Weston who stated Hunter never pointed the crossbow at him or his younger brother.
Weston stated after the physical altercation subsided, Hunter gathered himself and stated he would kill Weston, then attempted to load an arrow into the crossbow.
Dakota then rushed Hunter and took the bow away.
Weston said Hunter threatened to kill him several times during the incident.
As a result, Hunter Townsley faces the charge of terroristic threatening in the first degree, a class D felony; bond for Hunter was set at $10,000 and has been ordered to have no contact with Weston or Dakota.
