Community’s around the nation are preparing to celebrate Independence Day, July 4. Here is a list of local events.
The 19th annual Celebrate Freedom event will be held July 3 in the Cave City park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. The fireworks will begin at dark.
The Salem Chamber of Commerce sponsors this year’s Independence Day celebration slated to take place at dark at the Salem City Park July 4th. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the show.
The community of Evening Shade will hold a Picnic in the Park on Independence Day, July 4.
The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Evening Shade Walking Track with water fun and yard games, free hot dog supper and refreshments. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a towel. No pets are allowed this year. Fireworks will take place at dark at the Evening Shade Gym.
The Horseshoe Bend Area Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce plans for this year’s 4th of Julyactivities which will take place July 4. The theme for this year’s events is “Home of the Brave.”
Parade lineup at the airport from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. with the parade to begin at 10 a.m.
This year’s parade will be led by Sheriff Charlie Melton, followed by VFW and Color Guard. Dignitaries, following after them will be clubs, organizations: Fire Dept, Vitalink EMS, Floats, Cars, Bikes, Motorcycles, horse and buggy and side-by-sides. Decorate and celebrate with us here in Horseshoe Bend.
At 11, the 2nd annual car, motorcycle, tractor, golf cart and 4×5 show will be held at the lower mall parking lot with sign up beginning at 10:30 a.m., judging at 12 noon and awards at 12:30.
Also at 12:30 will be a one act play, “We The People” to be held at the Music in the Mountains Theater.
A Kiddie Parade will take place at 1 p.m. at the Library Walking Trail.
Other events for the day include the Crown Lake flotilla at 5:30 p.m.
The fireworks will begin at dusk (around 9pm) or shortly thereafter. The Horseshoe Bend Fire Department will be serving food up on Turkey Mountain.
The City of Cherokee Village will kick off Independence Day activities with the annual Cherokee Village Firefighters Pancake Breakfast to be held at the Baseheart Fire Station from 6:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
Later that evening, Thunder on Thunderbird will be held on Lake Thunderbird beginning at 7 p.m. with the Patriotic Boat Parade. To sign up call 870-257-3240. The fireworks will begin at dark.
The Ozark Acres Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fireworks show July 4 beginning at dusk at Vagabond Beach. There is no cost to attend.
