Well, It’s another Sunday morning. “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Proverbs 31: 26-30 (ESV)
This isn’t just any Sunday morning either, its Mother’s Day. It’s a day to honor all women for what they have done for this worldly walk we are all on. Let’s be honest, without their hands to guide everyone, we would never have made it this far. I am honestly flooded with memories this morning of my grandmother, my mother, my wife, my sisters in law, my aunts, my nieces, and cousins. I hope you have these same memories of the strong women in your life. All of these great women had a hand in the direction we went in our life. God truly has blessed us all with these strong women that surround us.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV) says this, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” All of these strong women define this Bible verse, they live it, and make others feel the same way. Their guiding hands can be seen in their children and their grandchildren.
Proverbs 1:8 (ESV) tells us this truth, “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, These women are the teachers of our walk, of our children’s walk, of our nieces and nephews walk and of our cousins walk. These strong women have helped shape this generations family members and have left a legacy for all to follow.” Proverbs 22:6 (ESV) says this, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” That is exactly what these women have done for all of us.
I will tell you this truth also, it doesn’t have to be a maternal woman to be a mother to someone. Any woman that leads you in the right direction throughout your life is a motherly figure to you.
Mothers not only have an impact upon the lives of their children, but upon all of society as well. Wm. Ross Wallace wrote,
“They say that man is mighty, he governs land and sea,
He wields a mighty scepter, O’er lesser powers that be,
But a mightier power and stronger, Man from his throne has hurled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle, Is the hand that rules the world.”
A mother is a blessing to all of humanity. God knew what he was doing when he placed her in the heart of the home. The call of motherhood is great, it is a life of sacrifice that yields a bountiful reward. As we consider our mothers today, let us consider the unselfish sacrifice of every part of her:
“The heart of her, that beat against my own
The love of her, out-breathed in every tone
The eyes of her, that saw my smallest grief
The feet of her, that flew to my relief
The hands of her, that mind and body fed
The voice of her, that soothed and comforted
The ears of her, that heard my childish plaint
The face of her, with halo like a saint
The lips of her, that smiled her motherhood
The mind of her, my own that understood
The prayers of her-Oh, I would worthy be
Of all my mother was, and is, to me.”

I want to take this moment to thank my mom for teaching me. I wish I could give you just one more kiss and tell you I love you. I want to thank my wife for teaching our boys. Both of you are inspirations to many more than you know. So, all of you mother’s reading this, or all of you soon to be mothers, Happy Mother’s day. You are all God’s true blessings. I could talk all day and write for a week and never say it any better then what is written in Exodus 20:12 (ESV). “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
Sorry this is so short this week, I hope you have a great day today with your loved ones or with just your fond memories of your loved ones. I want to say HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all who are reading this. I am so thankful for all of the women in my life, each one of you makes me want to be a better person. THANK YOU! Please always remember God truly loves each and every one of you and so do I.
