Have you ever logged your time for one day. I mean wrote down how you spent your average day in minutes or hours. It could prove to enlighten you where most of your time goes or is spent.

I only have a High School diploma. I never went to college. As for me, I do have common sense to help me get through each day. I am not nearly as smart as my wife Michelle. She has a Masters in Church Management and Administration. It took her a bunch of hours and even years to achieve her goal, but she did.

My neighbor has a Ferris lawnmower. He really can speed on that thing. He mows fast. I would like one too. That is called envy. I have a hankering for one of those. I shopped for one, then realized the cost was like an automobile. Oh well, not to be.

There is no amount of training, education, or earthly possessionsthat can create a personal relationship with Jesus. But even more than that, there is nothing this world can offer to give you a stronger relationship with Him either! A strong relationship is not developed through money, education, or skills. It’s developed through spending time with someone. Yes, taking the time to get to know someone develops a strong personal relationship.

If we don’t spend time and effort in God’s Word, if we don’t spend time in prayer talking with God, how can we expect our relationship with Him to grow? If we do those two things daily, it will grow into a very close, personal, and intimate relationship with our living Savior. Isn’t that what we want? Isn’t that what He wants? The very last words you want to hear Jesus speak to you is NOT, “sorry I never knew you”.

As you reflect on this today, where are you spending your time? Do we spend our time on things of this world? We should be spending time with God, focusing on developing a stronger relationship with Him.

Paul says it best, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. — Philippians 3:7

You may gain all the wealth the world offers, all the degrees of education offered, the coolest of all lawnmowers, and even own more acres than anyone else, but if you don’t have that one-on-one personal relationship with Christ Jesus it will ALL be counted loss for Christ.

Find the time to develop an awesome personal relationship with Jesus. You will meet Him someday. I want Him to recognize me from a distance and I want us to run to each other. I hope to hear, “there is my child, enter into eternity with me.”
